FERGIE ROBSON FROM CARLUKE STRUCK OFF AFTER STALKING TEENAGE GIRLS IN LANARKSHIRE

In March 2025, a disturbing case involving Fergie Robson, a 57-year-old teacher from Carluke, Lanarkshire, came to light as he was formally disciplined and removed from the teaching profession following allegations of stalking and inappropriate conduct towards teenage girls.

Robson’s misconduct involved contacting four schoolgirls, two of whom he interacted with directly at a school, while the other two he engaged with through online tutoring sessions. The nature of his communications was deeply troubling, with one girl receiving a book he authored titled 'The Bin Brigade,' which was laden with explicit language and detailed descriptions of sexual acts. Robson instructed her to keep this information secret, further emphasizing the inappropriate and manipulative nature of his actions.

Further investigations revealed that Robson had been inappropriately reaching out to two other girls he was tutoring via Zoom. His messages were persistent, and in one instance, he asked a girl to send him a video of her twerking, crossing boundaries of decency and trust. These actions prompted reports to authorities, leading to his court appearance at Lanark Sheriff Court.

During the court proceedings, Robson admitted to four charges of stalking girls aged between 15 and 17. Despite the severity of his actions, he was spared imprisonment. However, the consequences for his professional career were severe. The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), the regulatory body overseeing teachers, swiftly moved to revoke his registration. A 'removal' order was officially marked against his name on the GTCS website, effectively banning him from teaching in Scotland unless he could demonstrate his fitness to return to the profession.

South Lanarkshire Council confirmed that Robson had not been employed by them since December 2023, indicating a break in his professional activity prior to the court proceedings. The court also heard about an incident where Robson rubbed a girl on her thighs to remove dog hair after driving her and another girl to an event in his car. The girl described his behavior as 'creepy' and was visibly uncomfortable, attempting to shield herself by putting her hands behind her legs.

Following this incident, Robson sent her an email containing song lyrics he had written, asking her to keep their communication private. He also sent another message suggesting she take a photo of herself in a manner that appeared to be a joke but carried sexual connotations, which disturbed the girl further. She reported that Robson often called her 'gorgeous' and told her she would look 'hot' in a dress when going to church.

In a sentencing hearing held in June, Sheriff Siobhan Connelly ordered Robson to complete 300 hours of unpaid work and placed him under supervision for two years. The sheriff emphasized that Robson’s conduct had a 'significant sexual element' and that his position of trust as a teacher made his actions particularly egregious. She also noted that his behavior spanned from March to November 2022, and she highlighted the impact such conduct could have on the young women involved.

Sheriff Connelly concluded that Robson’s actions constituted a serious breach of trust and had a detrimental effect on the victims’ sense of safety and well-being. As a result, Robson was placed on the sex offenders’ register for two years, marking a significant step in holding him accountable for his misconduct and protecting the community from further harm.
