LIVERPOOL WOMAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER AFTER MURDER CONVICTION QUASHED
Farieissia Martin, a woman aged 28, was initially convicted of murder in June 2015 for stabbing her partner Kyle Farrell at her Liverpool home. Her conviction was later quashed by the Court of Appeal in December, which ordered a re-trial.
She pleaded guilty to manslaughter instead and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
She has served approximately six and a half years of her sentence for stabbing Farrell, who was a young man and father, in what was described as a drunken row at their home in Dingle on 21 November 2014.
The court heard that Farrell had grabbed her by the throat, an event she claimed to have acted in self-defense.
The sentencing court described the case as tragic, emphasizing Farrell’s status as a beloved son and father who will never see his children grow up.
Additionally, she received a nine-month consecutive sentence for possessing a mobile phone and a razor blade in prison.
The court acknowledged that her actions were not premeditated and noted she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder at the time.
