NOTTINGHAM WOMAN JAILED FOR POURING BOILING WATER ON LOVE RIVAL
A mother from Nottingham, Emily Banks, left a disabled love rival’s life in ruins when she poured boiling water over her victim while the woman’s ex-husband, Stephen Turner, just shut the door and left his new partner to it.The trial revealed that Banks, jealous and in the early stages of a relationship with Turner, carried out this horrific act at his address in Hazelwood Road, Radford, in the early hours of July 8 last year.
Banks, who had earlier knocked her victim to the ground and kicked her, poured up to two liters of boiling liquid on her as she lay helpless on the floor.
The victim, who cannot move her left side following a stroke, endured burns on 15% of her body.
During the incident, Turner saw Banks throw the water but chose to wait outside, having closed the door despite her screams of pain.
Both Banks and Turner refused to admit guilt, with the victim even being made to believe she inflicted her injuries herself.
The judge sentenced Banks to 10 years and Turner to 8 years in prison, with the court highlighting the brutality and betrayal involved in the assault.
Turner was described as someone suffering from emphysema and not in good health, and Banks was noted to have a personality disorder.
The court heard how the victim felt betrayed and expressed ongoing fear and trauma, stating: “I did not know I was in danger that night and then someone I trusted caused these injuries.
I loved Steve at one point and then he did this to me and now I don't trust anyone.
The scars will never go away and I will always have the constant reminder of that awful attack that night.”
