EDWIN ROY'S SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE PLOT IN NOTTINGHAM REVEALED
In December 2018, a disturbing case involving Edwin Roy, a known sex offender from Nottingham, came to light as he was brought before Nottingham Crown Court to face serious allegations of sexual misconduct and grooming.Roy, who has a prior conviction for sexual offenses, admitted to a total of 10 counts related to his predatory behavior.
These included seven counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor, and three counts of inciting a girl aged between 13 and 15 to participate in sexual activity, although no physical contact or penetration occurred.
The court was informed that Roy had created a fictitious online persona under the name of his cousin, 'Shane,' who was currently serving time in prison for unrelated child sexual offenses.
Using this fake account, Roy initiated contact with what he believed was the profile of a young schoolgirl.
His messages were sexually explicit, clearly aimed at grooming the girl for sexual activity.
However, the girl was not real.
Instead, she was an adult member of TGA — The Guardian Angels — a well-known paedophile hunting team dedicated to exposing online predators.
The team had been monitoring Roy’s activities and collected evidence of his attempts to groom the fictitious girl.
Once the evidence was gathered, the team handed it over to the police.
An investigation was launched, leading to Roy’s arrest.
During his initial police interview, Roy openly admitted to creating the fake account and using it to groom what he believed was a young girl.
Following the proceedings, Roy was sentenced to 22 months in prison.
The court also mandated that he register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years.
Additionally, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed, lasting for a decade, to restrict his activities and protect the community from further harm.
