EDWARD EDGELY'S SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CRIME IN LIVERPOOL
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Liverpool community, Edward Edgely, a 63-year-old resident of Old Hall, was convicted of possessing and distributing indecent images of children. The investigation into Edgely’s activities uncovered a deeply troubling pattern of behavior involving the collection and dissemination of vile material depicting minors as young as two years old.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Edgely’s three-bedroom semi-detached home on Nansen Close in June 2017.
The police action was prompted by intelligence suggesting that Edgely had been posting indecent images on a publicly accessible chat room.
When officers arrived at the residence, Edgely was present and was promptly arrested.
During the raid, law enforcement officials seized a laptop and a DVD from the property, which later proved to contain a significant amount of illegal material.
Further investigation revealed that Edgely had been actively involved in collecting and storing these images over a period spanning from 2014 to 2017.
The authorities found that he had amassed a total of 16 Category A indecent images, 29 Category B images, and 122 Category C images, all depicting children aged between two and thirteen.
The images had been downloaded from the internet and saved onto a DVD, with Edgely reportedly using software to erase any evidence of his activities from his laptop to avoid detection.
It was also discovered that Edgely had a small quantity of cannabis at his home, which he admitted to possessing.
He received a police caution for this possession.
Despite having no previous criminal convictions, Edgely’s actions in relation to the indecent images led to serious legal consequences.
During court proceedings, Edgely admitted to three counts: making indecent images, possession of indecent images, and distributing indecent images.
He claimed that he had uploaded only “tens of images rather than hundreds” online, attempting to minimize the extent of his involvement.
However, the court found his explanations unconvincing and sentenced him to 18 months in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on September 13.
Judge Gary Woodhall, presiding over the case, emphasized the severity of Edgely’s crimes.
In his sentencing remarks, he stated, “You admitted being sexually stimulated by this indecent pornography and admitted uploaded images to this website.
You describe yourself as a bisexual pervert — you claimed to be unwell and that you were not in full control of your behaviour.
Your attitudes make me satisfied that, as things stand, there is little if any prospect of rehabilitation in your case.
I’m satisfied that only an immediate custody can be justified.” As part of his sentence, Edgely will serve half of his 18-month term before being subject to a one-year supervision order.
Additionally, he was issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and a notification requirement for the same duration.
The court also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the laptop and DVD to prevent further dissemination of the illegal material.
