EAMOUND TALLON FROM BITTERNE AND YORK SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN SOUTHAMPTON

In a case that highlights the long-lasting impact of childhood abuse and the importance of justice, Eamound Tallon, a 53-year-old former children’s home worker, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for abusing a teenage boy under his care. The crimes occurred over two decades ago, during Tallon’s tenure at the Thorold Road Children’s Home located in the Bitterne area of Southampton.

The victim, who is now in his 30s, came forward last year to report the abuse, prompting an investigation by local authorities. The police were able to connect the allegations to Tallon, who had since relocated to York. His arrest was carried out by Hampshire police officers in May of the previous year, following the victim’s complaint.

During the court proceedings, Tallon pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault against the young man. The sentencing reflects the seriousness of the offenses, which took place many years ago but continue to have profound effects on the victim. The case underscores the importance of encouraging victims of child abuse to come forward, regardless of how much time has passed.

PC Lucy Stewart, a member of Southampton’s Public Protection Investigation Unit, emphasized the commitment of Hampshire Constabulary to pursue justice in such cases. She stated, “We always encourage victims of child abuse to report the crime, even if it happened years ago. This case proves that, no matter how many years have passed, Hampshire Constabulary will bring the offender to justice.”
