BURNLEY MAN JAILED FOR SHAKING BABY WITH LIFE-CHANGING INJURIES
A baby was left with multiple bleeds on the brain after being assaulted in Burnley.
The man responsible, Dylan Saville, of Helme Lane, Meltham, West Yorkshire, was arrested following the report of the baby being taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital on February 20, 2024, with serious injuries.
An investigation was launched, and Saville was charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm after it was found he had assaulted the child by shaking him, leaving the baby boy with significant injuries.
At the time of his arrest, Saville denied the offence and feigned worry for the baby.
He ultimately pleaded guilty at Burnley Crown Court and was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.
Police officer DC Shanaz Kone commented on the case, stating, “Saville assaulted a baby - one of the most innocent members of our society, who will be left with lifelong effects from his injuries...
I do hope the knowledge that Saville has been brought to justice and will spend time behind bars brings some comfort to the baby’s family.”
