DUSTIN GANDLEY FROM BRIDGWATER JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN SEDGE-MOOR

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities, Dustin Gandley, a resident of Bridgwater, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young girl in Sedge-moor. The crimes spanned over a period of four years, during which Gandley, aged 37 at the time, engaged in multiple acts of sexual abuse against the girl, who was under the age of 13.

According to court proceedings, Gandley's offenses included a total of 11 separate sexual assaults. The young victim confided in her mother about the abuse, which led to Gandley's arrest and subsequent prosecution. The case was heard at Taunton Crown Court, where it was revealed that Gandley, who is a Jehovah’s Witness, was initially reluctant to admit the full extent of his misconduct. He appeared to minimize the number of incidents, suggesting that he believed the church might forgive him if he only committed a single indiscretion, but that multiple offenses would be viewed more harshly.

Prosecutor Nicolas Gerasimidis outlined the case, emphasizing Gandley's attempt to downplay his actions. The defense, represented by Lawrence Wilcox, highlighted Gandley's previously clean criminal record and good character. Wilcox explained that Gandley was employed as a cabinet-maker in the Highbridge area but had suffered significant personal losses, including the loss of his job, his home, and his relationship with his wife, as a consequence of his actions.

Gandley, who resides on Hamp Brook Way in Bridgwater, pleaded guilty to ten counts of sexual assault against a female under 13 and one charge of inciting the victim to engage in sexual activity. The judge, Graham Hume Jones, delivered a stern sentence, condemning Gandley's behavior as exploitative and damaging. The judge stated, “You took advantage of her to gratify whatever sexual need you had at that particular moment. This behavior had a serious effect on the child, but also on the child’s family and on her mother.”

As part of his sentence, Gandley was ordered to register as a sex offender and was prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with children.
