KIDLINGTON PAEDOPHILE WHO RAPED AND ABUSED CHILD IN OXFORDSHIRE IS JAILED
A convicted paedophile who repeatedly assaulted and sexually abused a young girl has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.During his disturbing pattern of abuse, Darren Rochford threatened to kill his victim if she disclosed the offenses and offered her money in exchange for sex.
The 50-year-old resident of Waverley Avenue, Kidlington, also recorded some of the abuse, with police later discovering a video among numerous images depicting child exploitation.
The survivor, who cannot be named for legal reasons, described feeling 'disgusting' and experiencing flashbacks and nightmares as a result of the trauma.
Prosecutor Matthew Walsh stated that Rochford repeatedly assaulted the girl, used blackmail tactics, and paid her to perform sexual acts.
He also recorded some of the abuse, and the victim recalls he threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
In addition to the initial offences, police later investigated Rochford for online paedophilia.
During a search of his residence, officers seized an Apple Macbook and three hard drives, which contained a collection of indecent images.
These images, separate from those involving the girl, included 1,321 images categorized as severe (A), along with 1,569 in category B and 2,457 in category C.
Rochford was also found to have shared some of these images.
The victim of the abuse shared that the experience had left a lasting scar, stating that Rochford was often shouting and only wanted her for abuse.
Defence solicitor Jane Brady noted that Rochford had accepted responsibility, expressed remorse, and regretted not seeking help earlier.
She emphasized that he had no prior convictions for other crimes.
Judge Peter Ross described Rochford's sexual interests as deeply entrenched and highlighted the degrading and humiliating nature of the abuse.
He condemned this as the most sinister corruption of a child, stating Rochford utterly devastated his victim.
Rochford received a 20-year sentence, with an additional eight years on license.
He is also subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and mandatory registration as a sex offender for life.
