Kidlington rapist jailed for sexual assault and rape

KIDLINGTON RAPIST JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND RAPE

John Eric Weller, who was convicted of sexual assault, has been sentenced to a total of 17 years in prison and a further year on licence for raping a girl.

Weller, formerly residing on Oxford Road in Kidlington, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, November 25.

The 36-year-old was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration, and eight counts of sexual assault involving touching either beneath or over clothing, following a seven-day trial in October.

In addition to his prison term, Weller has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and issued an ongoing sexual harm prevention order.

Detective Constable Sophie Holliss from Thames Valley Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit commented on the case: “I am pleased that Weller has been incarcerated for his actions.

He did not admit to his crimes and subjected the victim to a harrowing criminal trial.

It is clear that Weller poses a risk to society and will no longer have the opportunity to harm others.

I want to acknowledge the victim’s bravery in reporting this offence and facing their abuser.
