NOTTINGHAM MAN SENT EXPLICIT MESSAGES TO ‘14-YEAR-OLD GIRL’ AND GETS 10-YEAR COURT ORDER
A man named Duncan Simfukwe, aged 35, has been involved in an incident where he attempted to communicate sexually with a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
Nottingham Crown Court revealed that he had sent sexually explicit messages to a decoy account that was set up by an online child activist group.
The group alerted the police, leading to his arrest on the same day.
During the investigation, detectives found messages of a sexual nature on his mobile phones, including one instructing the girl not to tell her parents about their exchanges.
Simfukwe, formerly residing on Northolme Avenue in Bulwell, initially claimed he thought the person he was messaging was just playing games and not truly 14.
He pleaded not guilty at first but later admitted guilt last October.
He was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years, which restricts him from possessing images of female children under 16 without parental permission, seeking contact with minors, or using software related to such images.
Detective Constable Charlotte Read highlighted the police's swift response and emphasized the importance of vigilance online to protect children from digital threats.
