DUANE GRIFFITHS PONTARDDULAIS SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS FOR YEARS OF ABUSE ON YOUNG BOY

In a case that has shocked the community of Pontarddulais, Duane Griffiths, a 47-year-old former call centre employee, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of a series of heinous crimes involving a young boy. The offences, which spanned over five years during the early 2000s, included multiple instances of rape and sexual assault against the young victim.

It was only in 2015 that the victim, now an adult, courageously came forward to report the abuse, prompting a police investigation that ultimately led to Griffiths's arrest and prosecution. Law enforcement officials have publicly commended the victim for his bravery in speaking out, which played a crucial role in securing the conviction and bringing justice to light.

During the trial at Swansea Crown Court, Griffiths was found guilty of several serious charges, including raping a child under the age of 13, sexual touching, and grooming. The court heard how the abuse was carried out over a prolonged period, causing significant trauma to the young boy.
