DONALD DAVIES BUSTED IN BARRY FOR BREACHING COURT ORDERS AFTER MARRYING WOMAN IN SENEGAL
In August 2023, a serious legal breach involving Donald Davies, a man from Barry, has come to light, highlighting ongoing concerns about individuals with a history of sexual offences and their compliance with court-imposed restrictions.Donald Davies, aged 65, has a troubling past marked by multiple convictions related to sexual misconduct involving minors.
His criminal record includes a 2010 sentence of six years in prison after he was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
The details of his offense are disturbing: he sat on a young girl while naked and performed a sexual act, actions that led to his incarceration.
In addition to this, Davies was found in possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography, further underscoring the severity of his criminal behavior.
Prior to his 2010 conviction, Davies had received a police caution in 2006 for inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The caution was issued after he kissed the victim with tongues, an act that demonstrated his predatory behavior.
Following his convictions, Davies was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), a legal measure designed to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further offenses.
Despite these restrictions, he repeatedly breached the order, raising serious concerns about his compliance and the safety of potential victims.
On a notable occasion in June, authorities from Cardiff Crown Court conducted a routine monitoring visit to Davies’ residence on Colcot Road.
During this visit, officers were surprised to discover that Davies had traveled to Senegal and married a woman he had met through an African dating website.
The court heard that the woman had a young daughter, who was living in another country.
When officers examined Davies’ phone, they found a contact number for the girl, and Davies admitted that he had purchased her a phone and had spoken to her, offering advice.
This contact was particularly alarming because it indicated a breach of the court order that prohibited him from engaging in such contact with minors.
Davies initially refused to allow officers to examine his phone on previous occasions, which added to concerns about his transparency.
He also disclosed plans to bring his wife to live with him in Wales, a move that could potentially involve further breaches of legal restrictions.
Attempts to speak directly with Davies’ wife were unsuccessful; she initially hung up when contacted and later dismissed concerns about Davies’ criminal record when informed of his past convictions.
Following these events, Davies, of Colcot Road, pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
His criminal history is extensive, with eight previous convictions for sexual offenses, all of which were dealt with at Cambridge Crown Court.
The court was informed that Davies is employed as an HGV driver and that he regularly sends £500 weekly to his wife in Senegal, supporting her and her daughter financially.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Lucy Crowther condemned Davies’ actions, stating that he had demonstrated an “utter disregard for the rules.” She emphasized that Davies was fully aware of the restrictions placed upon him but chose to ignore them, risking the safety of minors and undermining the legal system.
As a result, Davies was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
The court ordered that he serve half of this sentence in custody, with the remaining time to be served on license upon his release, ensuring continued supervision and monitoring of his conduct moving forward.
