DONALD BOYLE OF GWYNEDD FAILS IN EFFORT TO ESCAPE JUSTICE IN ORMSKIRK CASE
A convicted paedophile named Donald Maxwell Boyle was unsuccessful in his attempts to avoid justice by changing his identity and relocating within the country.Boyle, now 71, has commenced a second prison term after admitting to sexually abusing a child.
The investigation into Boyle's activities was initiated in April 2019, following a victim's report that she had been abused by him in Ormskirk during the 1980s.
At that time, Boyle was known as Donald Maxwell Wells but changed his name by deed poll after being jailed for child abuse in the late 1980s.
He later moved to Wales.
During the abuse in Ormskirk, Boyle allegedly instructed the girl in explicit detail about what he wanted her to do, while also making threats to prevent her from revealing the abuse to her parents.
When interviewed by police, Boyle, of Llewelyn Street, Aberffraw, Ty Croes, Gwynedd, Wales, denied any misconduct.
However, he appeared at Preston Crown Court earlier this year and pleaded guilty to charges of indecent assault and indecency with a child.
Last week, Boyle was sentenced to five years imprisonment.
Additionally, he was subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
DC Kelly Rosenthal of Ormskirk CID stated, 'Boyle is a manipulative and controlling individual who abused his young victim for his own sordid sexual interests.
He went to great lengths to try and evade justice, first threatening his victim and then changing his name after being released from prison.
Thanks to the bravery of the victim in coming forward and the dedication of all the officers involved, Boyle’s past has finally caught up with him.' Rosenthal added, 'I hope this case and its outcome will encourage other victims of sexual abuse—no matter how historic—to come forward.
They can be assured they will be listened to and believed, and that Lancashire Police will do everything in our power to protect them and bring perpetrators to justice.'
