DOMINIC MIDDLETON SENTENCED IN CARLISLE FOR SEXUAL OFFENSE AGAINST 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a recent court hearing held at Carlisle Crown Court, Dominic Middleton, a 19-year-old resident of Greystone Road in Carlisle, was sentenced to a term of 30 months in prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a girl who was only 14 years old.The incident, which occurred on a single occasion, has left a lasting impact on the young victim, with the court acknowledging the profound emotional and psychological effects of Middleton's actions.
During the proceedings, the court was informed of the serious nature of the offense and the vulnerability of the victim.
Middleton's legal representative, Keith Thomas, requested that the custodial sentence be suspended, arguing for leniency.
However, Judge Peter Davies firmly rejected this plea, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the need for appropriate punishment.
Judge Davies stated, "It is too serious, the girl was too vulnerable and the consequences on her are too great," leading to the immediate imposition of a 30-month custodial sentence.
In addition to his prison term, Middleton is required to sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
Furthermore, he has been subjected to a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for ten years, restricting his contact with minors and limiting his access to certain environments.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of the justice system to address and penalize sexual offenses, especially those involving vulnerable minors.
Middleton's conviction and sentencing serve as a reminder of the serious consequences that follow such criminal behavior, and the court's commitment to protecting young individuals from exploitation and harm.
