DEWI GRIFFITHS FROM PENMAENMAWR SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN MOLD

In a recent and highly disturbing case, Dewi Rhys Griffiths, a resident of Gilfach Road in Penmaenmawr, was convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving two young girls. The case was heard at Mold Crown Court, where Griffiths faced the consequences of his actions after a trial that revealed the extent of his misconduct.

Griffiths was found guilty of three separate assaults against a girl under the age of 13. The court heard that his abuse included inappropriate physical contact, such as kissing her on the cheek and touching her bare chest after unbuttoning part of her pajamas. Simon Rogers, the prosecutor, detailed the emotional impact of Griffiths' actions during the court proceedings. He explained that the first victim, now an adult, provided a victim impact statement in which she described how the abuse continues to affect her to this day. Her statement also revealed her ongoing struggle with the trauma, which has haunted her for years.

Furthermore, she conveyed her frustration and anger over Griffiths' persistent denial of the abuse. Despite her truthful account, Griffiths has repeatedly denied the allegations, claiming she lied about the incidents. The victim emphasized that she had nothing to gain from fabricating her story, underscoring the credibility of her testimony.

In sentencing, Recorder John Philpotts imposed a custodial term of four years for Griffiths' crimes. Additionally, he ordered a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, which prohibits Griffiths from having unsupervised contact with female children under the age of 16. The court also mandated that Griffiths be listed on the national sex offender register, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect potential future victims.
