DERRAN HENDERSON FROM LOCHGELLY SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE INCIDENTS
Derran Henderson, also known as Derran Bell, is a man with a troubling history of domestic violence, having been convicted of at least three separate incidents involving abuse within his own home. His actions have repeatedly brought him into conflict with the law, highlighting a pattern of aggressive and threatening behavior towards former partners. One particularly alarming incident took place in Lochgelly, where Henderson, aged 21 and residing on Main Street, issued a violent threat to the mother of his child. He told her that she was going to get her face "done in," a phrase that alarmed those nearby and prompted immediate police intervention. Several neighbors witnessed Henderson's threatening conduct and promptly contacted law enforcement authorities to report his behavior.
On June 21, Henderson admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at an address in Lochgelly. He acknowledged that he had attended the premises around 4:45 pm, during which he shouted, swore, and acted aggressively towards his former partner. Witnesses observed him approaching the home, banging on the door, and shouting profanities such as "f***" and "b******." His conduct was so disruptive that neighbors could hear him from outside, and the police were called to the scene.
According to reports, Henderson was seen returning to his vehicle after the initial outburst, making gestures towards the complainant. He then exited the vehicle again and shouted through the letterbox, explicitly warning her, "you are getting your face done in." Several neighbors confirmed hearing this threat. When police arrived, they found Henderson near the property and promptly arrested him. During police interviews, Henderson admitted to telling the complainant, "I am going to break your face," although he later claimed that the situation was different, asserting that the complainant was shouting abuse at him upon his arrival.
Sheriff Charles Macnnair questioned Henderson’s version of events, noting that his account did not align with the evidence presented. The court proceedings revealed the seriousness of Henderson’s actions, which included repeated threats and aggressive behavior while he was on bail, having previously been granted bail on April 6 and April 25.
Henderson was ultimately sentenced to 65 hours of unpaid work for his conduct. Due to discrepancies between his account and the prosecution’s narrative, a proof of mitigation was scheduled for August 23 to further address the domestic offense. His case underscores the ongoing issues of domestic violence in Lochgelly and the importance of legal measures to protect victims from repeat offenders.
