DEREK SKARDON JAILED FOR LIFE IN LIVERPOOL FOR ABUSING AND SHARING IMAGES OF SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a harrowing case that has shocked the city of Liverpool, Derek Skardon, a 44-year-old man, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of sexually abusing a six-year-old girl and distributing images of the abuse online.
The incident took place in a lock-up garage within Liverpool, where Skardon committed the heinous acts against the young victim.
Skardon pleaded guilty to a total of 35 sexual offences, including the rape of the young girl, during an earlier hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.
The court heard that his crimes extended beyond the initial abuse, as he also shared indecent images of children over the internet.
On Thursday, the presiding judge ordered that Skardon serve a minimum term of seven years before he could be considered for parole, reflecting the severity of his offences.
His arrest was the result of a meticulous investigation initiated after authorities received a tip-off from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP).
