In December 2017, Derek Abbott, a truck driver from Hull, was brought to justice after being caught in a sting operation conducted by paedophile hunters.

The incident highlighted the dangers posed by online predators and the importance of vigilant child protection efforts.

Abbott appeared in court via a video link to face charges related to multiple child grooming offences.

The court proceedings revealed that Abbott had engaged in online communications with profiles he believed belonged to two young girls, aged 12 and 13.

During these interactions, he sent numerous sexually explicit messages, including explicit photographs of his genitalia.
