DENNIS COLLINS FROM NORTON CANES SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRL IN STAFFORDSHIRE

In December 2016, Dennis Collins, a resident of Norton Canes, was released from prison after serving time for serious sexual offences.

The case had garnered significant attention due to the nature of the crimes and the age of the victim.

Earlier in May 2016, Collins, an 81-year-old former warehouse supervisor, was convicted and sentenced for his involvement in abusing a young girl.

The court proceedings took place at Stafford Crown Court, where Collins appeared to face the charges against him.

It was established during the trial that the victim, a girl who was only 12 years old at the time, had been subjected to sexual assault by Collins.

The abuse reportedly began when the girl was just 12 and continued over a period of three years, indicating a prolonged pattern of misconduct.

The court heard detailed accounts of the offences, which led to Collins pleading guilty to three counts of sexual assault on a child.

The judge, after considering the evidence and the circumstances, sentenced Collins to 15 months in prison for each count.

However, because the sentences were ordered to run concurrently, Collins was only required to serve a total of seven months behind bars.

In addition to his imprisonment, Collins was mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent any further offending behavior.
