November 1988 Sex case vicars jailed Pictured above from left: Rev Dennis Allison, Gary Clough and Rev James Bent Two vicars, a choirmaster, a church server and a fifth man have been jailed for sex offences against young boys But last night the wife of one of the clergymen vowed she would stand by him As father of three, the Rev Dennis Allison, 58, began a 30-month prison sentence, his wife Ann, who was recently hounded out of their home by angry neighbours, said: ‘He’s totally penitent. I’ll be waiting for him.’ Mrs Allison, now living at a secret address, said her children would ‘have to make their own decision’ about how they felt about their father. Allison, vicar of St Peter and St Paul’s Wymering, Portsmouth (pictured below) was jailed at Winchester crown court after admitting seven indecent assaults involving two boys. Mr Justice Swinton told him: ‘How you came to commit these offences really passes any comprehension.’ Allison’s friend, the Rev James Bent, 57 of West Derby, Liverpool was jailed for six months after admitting two indecent assaults on one boy. The three other offenders were all from Portsmouth Solicitor Stuart Eager, 39 of Farlington, a choirmaster at Allison’s church received nine months for two indecent assaults A server at the same church, Gary Clough, 25 of Hilsea was jailed for 12 months for five sexual offences Professional musician Raymond Fullalove, 42 of Copnor, a friend of Eager’s was jailed for two years for five sexual offences One of the boys was first assaulted by Allison at the age of 12 years old and then abused by all the other men over a four year period.
