DENIS BRESNAN, FORMER LINCOLNSHIRE TEACHER, JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGE OFFENCES IN LINCOLN

In September 2017, Denis Bresnahan, a former teacher from Lincolnshire, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for possessing and distributing indecent images of children. Bresnahan, who had recently been working as a private tutor at his own company, Matrix Tutors, was found to have downloaded hundreds of such images. He also took indecent photographs of a child himself and shared images over the internet with other paedophiles.

Bresnahan created multiple fake internet accounts using false profile pictures, which he used to engage in sexually explicit chat discussions. He is 67 years old, formerly resided in Bourne, and now lives at Houghton Court, Billingborough. He pleaded guilty to three charges involving the creation of 3,381 indecent images of children over a five-year period ending in January of this year. Additionally, he admitted to distributing indecent images of a child, possessing a prohibited image, and possessing 131 extreme pornographic images.

Recorder John Hardy described Bresnahan as "depraved" in his comments during sentencing. Lisa Hardy, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court that Bresnahan’s internet activities came to light after police were alerted. His home on Heartsease Way, Bourne, was subsequently raided. When questioned, Bresnahan reportedly responded, “He might know something of the allegations.”

Police examined a computer tower, a laptop, and a memory stick, uncovering the 3,381 indecent images, which included 907 of the most serious type, with 432 being films. Mrs Hardy added that Bresnahan used various fake profiles, impersonating a middle-aged woman, a teenage girl, younger girls, and a young boy.

Further investigation of his Skype account revealed that he communicated with multiple users, sharing and distributing indecent images. Bresnahan was arrested and questioned about his Skype conversations and sexualized chats; however, he chose not to comment on the allegations.
