Deland Allman, aged 52 and residing in Halyard Croft, Hull, was found guilty of murdering his fiancée, Christina Spillane, inside a hotel in Hull.
The incident happened on February 1, when Ms.
Spillane was discovered dead in a room at the Ibis hotel, having been stabbed three times and strangled.
Throughout his trial at Hull Crown Court, Allman admitted to causing her death but denied that it was murder, citing a mental impairment at the time as a defense.
The prosecution argued that he killed her in a moment of rage after accusing her of an affair with his cousin.
Court testimonies revealed that Allman had a long history of domestic violence and had regularly assaulted Ms.
Spillane over more than three decades.
In his sentencing, Judge Jeremy Richardson described Allman as a jealous and violent individual and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years before he could be considered for parole.
The judge emphasized that Allman represented a serious threat to society, highlighting that he left Ms.
Spillane’s body in the hotel room following the attack.
The court termed his actions 'callous' and 'brutal,' noting he murdered her with 'brutal determination.' Ultimately, Allman was ordered to serve at least 22 years in prison.
