DECLIN DRESLIN SHAMES TEENAGER IN WORCESTER DAYLIGHT ATTACK
In a disturbing incident that took place in broad daylight in Worcester, a 60-year-old man named Declin Dreslin was convicted and sentenced for a sexual assault that left a young woman deeply traumatized. The assault occurred on August 8, when the victim, a 19-year-old student, was waiting outside the WHSmith store on High Street.
As she stood there, an individual approached her unexpectedly and committed an act of sexual misconduct that has since garnered significant attention.
According to reports, Dreslin forcibly pressed his face between the teenager’s breasts for approximately ten seconds.
The incident was witnessed by a bystander who was sitting on a park bench nearby.
The witness, noticing the assault, quickly took out his phone and captured a photograph of the event around 1:20 pm.
This evidence played a crucial role in the subsequent legal proceedings.
Prosecutor Christopher Lester described the assault, stating, “While she was standing there, a man suddenly appeared and walked over to her, placing his head on her bosom and leaving it there for five to ten seconds.
She was aghast at what had happened and didn’t know what to do.” The victim, in her personal statement, revealed the profound impact the incident has had on her mental health.
She disclosed that she now suffers from depression and anxiety, conditions that have been exacerbated by her past experiences, including a previous sexual assault during her childhood.
In her statement, she expressed her fears about her safety and independence, asking, “The first thing I said to my boyfriend was, does this mean I can’t go out into town by myself?” Her words reflect the emotional scars left by the attack and her ongoing struggle to regain confidence.
Declin Dreslin, a resident of Worcester, pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault.
During his sentencing at Worcester Crown Court, he was sentenced to four months in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender and pay costs amounting to £150.
The judge, Robert Juckes QC, delivered a stern warning, stating, “She was young enough to be your granddaughter.
She was in the middle of the day, in the middle of the city here, waiting for her boyfriend and simply standing there when you – drunk – went up to her and dropped your head in her breasts and left it there for 10 seconds.” It was also revealed that Dreslin has a prior criminal record, including convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol and public disorder offenses.
His history underscores a pattern of concerning behavior, which the court took into account during sentencing.
The case highlights the importance of addressing sexual misconduct and protecting vulnerable individuals in public spaces, especially in busy city centers like Worcester.
