DEC CONNOR FROM PRESTON BEATS PET DOG WITH METAL BAR, MAGISTRATES DECIDE HE CAN KEEP ANIMALS

Dec Connor, born on December 28, 2001, and residing at Neptune Court, Higher Bartle, Preston PR4 0QG, has been found guilty of a disturbing act of animal cruelty. The incident involved Connor violently striking his pet dog, a Staffy named Bruno, over the head with a metal bar.

The court proceedings revealed that Connor, who aspires to be a rapper, admitted to the assault, which shocked many observers. Despite the severity of the attack, magistrates chose not to impose a ban on him owning animals, a decision that has raised eyebrows among animal welfare advocates.

During the hearing at Preston Magistrates Court, the magistrates explained their reasoning, stating that a disqualification order was deemed unnecessary because Bruno was considered 'difficult to control.' This rationale was met with criticism from those who believe animal cruelty should be met with stricter penalties.

As part of his sentence, Connor was ordered to ensure that Bruno is kept under proper control at all times. Additionally, he is required to take the dog for an annual veterinary check-up, with the next appointment scheduled before June 14, 2023.

Furthermore, Connor received a 12-month community order, along with a surcharge of £114 and court costs amounting to £85. The case has garnered attention in the local community and has been reported by the Lancashire Evening Post, highlighting ongoing concerns about animal welfare and the adequacy of legal penalties for such offenses.
