DEAN REDMOND SENTENCED IN LIVERPOOL FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND OFFENSIVE WEAPON OFFENSES
A 27-year-old man identified as Dean Redmond was sentenced to prison after he sexually assaulted a teenage girl and later attempted to repeat the offense.The judge stated that Redmond 'violated' the girl 'to satisfy his perverted desires,' and additionally criticized him for blaming the victim and trying to 'conceal evidence.' Liverpool Crown Court heard on Tuesday that Redmond only admitted to four counts of sexual assault and possession of a knuckleduster, an offensive weapon kept at his home.
Prosecutor Frank Dillon described how Redmond was alone with the victim in Warrington and asked her if she wanted to be treated 'like a kid or her age,' before kissing her.
He then 'got on top of her,' continued to kiss and groped her, lifted her clothing, and touched her inappropriately.
The victim told him she did not want to continue, prompting him to leave her alone.
However, Redmond returned later to try to remove her clothing again.
The victim reported these incidents to an adult, leading to police intervention.
Officers arrested Redmond at his residence in Hood Manor, where they found a knuckleduster during a search.
It was noted that Redmond had recently showered, which the court interpreted as an attempt to 'conceal evidence.' During questioning, Redmond denied the sexual assault allegations, claiming that the victim had accused him of drug dealing and suggesting that if he left, she would falsely claim he had touched her.
The court also heard a victim impact statement expressing the girl's emotional suffering, including 'constant flashbacks,' feeling 'empty,' and losing her sense of safety.
She described her distress and her mother’s concerns, noting that she has not seen her daughter smile or laugh for a long time.

Dillon detailed Redmond’s prior convictions, including a suspended sentence in 2015 for cannabis supply and a fine in 2018 for battery.
During the hearing, Redmond’s solicitor, Julian Nutter, argued that his client had good employment and that a prison sentence would 'destroy his ability to support his family.' Before sentencing, Recorder Richard Pratt addressed Redmond directly, stating that he had initiated a series of sexual assaults by forcibly kissing the victim, who tried to escape.
The judge emphasized that the victim was clearly in distress and was significantly affected psychologically.
He condemned Redmond’s actions, noting that despite her being a child, Redmond found her sexually attractive and acted on his perverted desires.
The judge also condemned Redmond for falsely accusing the victim of making false claims and only owning up after scientific evidence emerged.
Recorder Pratt concluded that Redmond showed little remorse and tried to avoid responsibility.
As a result, Redmond, of Sycamore Lane in Hood Manor, was sentenced to four years and two months in immediate custody.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was given an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.
