DEAN KIRBY FROM NOTTINGHAM SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN THE MEADOWS
On December 23, 2024, Dean Kirby, a 30-year-old resident of Nottingham, committed a terrifying act of domestic violence that has now led to his imprisonment.The incident unfolded when Kirby returned unannounced to the home of his former partner, where an argument quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
During this assault, Kirby subjected the woman to a series of brutal attacks that left her in fear for her life.
According to reports, Kirby first resorted to physical violence by punching his ex-partner and then proceeded to choke her, an act that caused her significant distress and physical harm.
He also issued threats to kill her, further intensifying the danger she faced.
The victim, in a desperate attempt to escape the violence, managed to retreat into a bathroom, seeking refuge from the assault.
However, Kirby’s violence did not cease there.
He threw a television at her, an act of aggression that could have caused serious injury, and menaced her with a warning that he would sever her fingers using bolt croppers, a chilling threat that underscored the severity of his rage.
Fortunately, the victim was able to escape the scene and flagged down a passing motorist, who promptly called emergency services.
Police officers arrived at the scene and arrested Kirby, who has a history of violent offenses.
During his initial detention, Kirby appeared cooperative but soon displayed further hostility.
He urinated in his cell and lunged at an officer through the hatch when questioned, demonstrating his ongoing aggressive tendencies.
Kirby faced a series of charges at Nottingham Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to multiple offenses including intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, threats to kill, and two counts of criminal damage.
A separate charge of assaulting an emergency worker was left on file after he entered a not-guilty plea.
The court sentenced Kirby to 43 months in prison, a punishment that reflects the seriousness of his actions.
In addition to his imprisonment, the court issued a restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim.
Kirby was also banned from returning to the Meadows estate, his former residence, to ensure her safety and prevent any future encounters.
Police Staff Investigator Safha Iqbal emphasized that Kirby’s history of violent behavior poses a significant threat to women and the community.
She praised the resilience of the victim, expressing relief that she can now begin to rebuild her life free from the shadow of her abuser.
