DEAN CARR FROM LINCOLN INVOLVED IN CHILD INDECENCY CASE AT LINCOLN CROWN COURT
In a case that has shocked the community of Lincoln, Dean Carr, a 25-year-old resident of The Pinfolds in Digby, was brought before Lincoln Crown Court to face serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images involving a minor.The incident, which came to light after the victim reported the matter at her school in February of the previous year, has raised concerns about the safety of young people in the area.
According to court proceedings, Carr admitted to possessing a single indecent photograph of a 15-year-old girl.
The court was informed that the police initiated an investigation after the girl confided in specially trained officers about her interactions with Carr on social media platforms, specifically Facebook Messenger and Snapchat.
The girl, who was 15 at the time, made it clear to the authorities that she was a minor, yet Carr had requested her to send explicit images of her body.
Despite her refusal to send such images, the girl did send Carr a photograph of her breast via Snapchat.
In return, Carr sent her an explicit image of his genitals.
The girl’s victim impact statement revealed the emotional toll the incident had taken on her.
She expressed fears of encountering Carr in her daily life and disclosed that she had begun self-harming as a result of the distress caused by the incident.
During police interviews, Carr admitted to the acts, stating simply, “I sent one to her, she sent one to me.” His admission confirmed the allegations against him.
The court heard that Carr pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing an indecent image of a child on February 9, 2017.
In sentencing, Judge Simon Hirst explained that a custodial sentence would not serve the best interests of the public or the victim.
Instead, he imposed a two-year community order, emphasizing that this would allow the Probation Service to work with Carr and monitor his behavior.
The judge also ordered Carr to register as a Sex Offender for five years and made him subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Judge Hirst warned Carr that any breach of the order would result in immediate imprisonment.
He also highlighted the serious impact Carr’s actions had on his victim, stating, “You asked her to send you a photo of between her legs, you sent her a photo of your penis.
After some pushing from you she sent you a picture of her naked breast.” The case underscores the ongoing concerns about online exploitation and the importance of safeguarding minors from such predatory behavior.
