DYSART MAN DAVID YOUNG SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND BESTIALITY IN DUNFERMLINE
In September 2016, a man from Dysart named David Young faced the courts to be sentenced for serious offenses involving the possession of indecent images of children and explicit material depicting bestiality. The case was heard at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where it was revealed that Young, aged 51 and residing on The Walk in Dysart, had committed these offenses at his home between September 15 and 17 of the previous year.According to court records, police executed a raid on Young’s residence, which was his solitary dwelling, and during this operation, they seized a laptop computer. It was on this device that investigators discovered a disturbing collection of images and videos. Among the material found was a film showing a woman engaging in sexual acts with a dog, alongside other images involving young girls and adult men. The images included some classified as extreme pornography, with one particular film being noted for its explicit and realistic depiction of bestiality.
Sheriff Charles Macnair addressed the court, stating, “You had on your devices images of children and extreme pornography. The numbers were not significant but included a film which was in the highest level.” This statement underscored the severity of the content found on Young’s devices, despite the total number of images not being large.
Following the evidence presented, the court sentenced David Young to a Community Payback Order, which includes three years of supervision and 150 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) was imposed for a period of five years, granting authorities the authority to monitor Young’s electronic devices during this time. Furthermore, Young was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years, requiring him to comply with certain restrictions and reporting obligations.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and harmful material, especially involving minors and extreme content. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such offenses are treated within the Scottish legal system, emphasizing both punishment and preventative measures to protect the community.
