DAVID WILSON, KING'S LYNN PAEDOPHILE, SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN IPSWICH COURT
A predatory paedophile who targeted young boys has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.David Wilson, 36, from King's Lynn, admitted to 96 child sex offenses involving 51 victims during a hearing in November.
His crimes included deliberately inciting boys to engage in sexual activities, blackmail, coercing children to view sexual images, and facilitating their sexual exploitation by sharing images of the children.
Today, Wilson appeared before Ipswich Crown Court for sentencing.
Prosecuted for 96 offences relating to 52 victims, Wilson’s case is further supported by evidence from the National Crime Agency (NCA) indicating he approached more than 5,000 children worldwide.
The NCA stated that approximately 500 of these children sent him abuse material, with Wilson residing in Kirstead, King's Lynn, Norfolk.
Wilson pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing and was sentenced this Wednesday by Judge Rupert Overbury, who described his crimes as among the worst he has seen in his 40-year career.
The judge said: "You carried out a lengthy and premeditated campaign of sadistic and manipulative abuse of young boys using social media.
Any decent human being will be astonished at the level of depravity involved.
You demonstrated a complete and utter disregard for every child you manipulated irrespective of their age." He added: "There was a sadistic element to your offending including blackmail and a relentless targeting of vulnerable children who often pleaded for mercy.
You are, in my judgment, an extremely dangerous individual with perverted and sadistic sexual interests in young boys.
Based on the evidence, you can properly be described as a serial paedophile." The NCA explained that Wilson, a former roofing contractor, created fake social media profiles and used unregistered phones to send images of girls from the internet to boys in exchange for videos and images of themselves.
He then threatened to distribute these images unless they sent even more extreme footage, sometimes involving younger siblings or friends in abuse.
The offences involved 52 boys aged between four and 14, with the criminal activity occurring from May 2016 to April 2020.
The investigation, spanning five years, uncovered crimes such as inciting sexual activity, coercing children to watch sexual acts, and arranging or enabling sexual exploitation.
Wilson also admitted to making demand for indecent images of children with threats, vowing to post embarrassing images online if refused.
The NCA highlighted that crucial evidence came from Facebook, whose upcoming encryption changes could jeopardize child protection efforts online.
Robin Jones, NCA Threat Leadership Director, warned: "The proposed move to end-to-end encryption on platforms like Facebook poses an existential threat to online child safety." A Facebook spokesman responded: "Child exploitation and grooming have no place on our platforms." Tony Cook, NCA Head of Operations, stated: "David Wilson has caused devastating harm to his victims and their families.
He exploited children’s vulnerability, grooming, bullying, and blackmailing them into sending indecent images or performing abuse.
Despite their pleas to stop, he ignored their suffering, retaining indecent material and threatening to share it with friends to maintain control.
Sadly, many offenders like Wilson use the internet to hide their identities and deceive children.
I urge parents to discuss online safety with their children, as this can happen to anyone."
