DAVID VICKERY EXPOSES HIMSELF IN POOLE AND RECORDS WOMEN IN BATHROOMS
A man from Poole, David Vickery, has been found guilty of multiple serious offenses involving public indecency and voyeurism.The incidents, which spanned several months, involved Vickery deliberately exposing his genitals to schoolgirls and secretly recording women in private settings, actions that have caused significant distress to the victims and their families.
Vickery, aged 47, admitted to three counts of exposure and two counts of voyeurism during his court hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court.
The court heard detailed accounts of the incidents, which took place in various locations around Poole, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.
According to prosecutor Grace Coupland, the first incident occurred around 3:30 pm on April 30, 2021.
Two 12-year-old girls were walking home from school when they noticed a car with its door open.
Inside, they saw a man’s leg protruding from the vehicle, with his shorts pulled down and his genitals fully exposed.
The girls were understandably shocked and frightened by the sight.
Further incidents were reported on August 20, 2021, when two girls aged 12 and 13 observed a parked Honda Civic at approximately 2:50 pm.
Inside the vehicle, Vickery was found sitting undressed from the waist down.
One of the girls was so distressed by the encounter that she burst into tears upon returning home, illustrating the emotional impact of the event.
The third incident took place on September 10, 2021, when two 13-year-old girls were shopping for sweets in Poole.
On their way home at around 4:45 pm, they noticed a parked car and saw Vickery with his leg sticking out of the vehicle.
He was wearing boxer shorts, with his penis exposed, and had his head down beneath a baseball cap, making it difficult for the girls to see his face.
The sight left the girls shaken and fearful.
One of the victims' mothers provided a statement to the court, revealing that her daughter’s confidence has been severely damaged following the incident.
She expressed concern that her daughter now fears walking alone, indicating the lasting psychological effects of Vickery’s actions.
Police investigations uncovered more disturbing evidence when they seized and examined Vickery’s phone.
They discovered a video approximately a minute and a half long, showing a teenage girl in a bikini sunbathing.
Vickery admitted that he recorded the girl because she caught his interest, and he derived a “kick” from voyeurism rather than from typical pornography.
The victim in her statement described feeling violated and now feeling constantly watched whenever she goes outside.
Additionally, authorities recovered a still image, believed to be taken from a video, depicting a woman standing in a bathroom with her lower body exposed.
Vickery admitted to concealing the recording device in a bathroom basket for about 20 minutes, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.
During mitigation, Vickery’s solicitor, Mary Aspinall-Miles, emphasized that he is a man of previously good character with no prior convictions and has shown genuine remorse for his actions.
Despite this, Judge Robert Pawson described Vickery’s conduct as “absolutely disgraceful” and expressed certainty that he targeted the schoolgirls intentionally.
Vickery, of Old Kiln Road in Poole, was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for two years.
The court also ordered him to complete 40 days of rehabilitation activities, perform 150 hours of unpaid work, and adhere to a 12-month electronic curfew.
Furthermore, he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sex offender for the next ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
