December 2018: Now released and currently staying in a half way house –  May 2012 Ammanford man who raped girl jailed for 14 years A pervert has been jailed for 14 years after being convicted of raping a seven year old girl. David Torrington, 48, of Station Road, Ammanford, was jailed at Swansea Crown Court. He was convicted on October 14, 2011, for seven counts of rape, but sentencing was delayed because of other court proceedings. Judge Peter Heywood told him: “She was a mere child. “This was clearly a terrifying experience for her and I remember her clearly saying how she cried afterwards. “She didn’t report these matters as frequently happens in cases with children until many years later. “This is serious offending that I can only deal with by way of a custodial sentence. “There had been no prior offending and I accept you were a hard-working man. You were working long hours as a builder and thereafter in Llandovery.” The attacks were all historic offences and took place before 2003 and were sentenced under the 1956 Sexual Offences Act. Judge Heywood told him he would have to sign as a sex offender upon his release. He was also indefinitely banned from working with children and vulnerable adults.
