DAVID TISSINGTON'S HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IN POOLE SHOCKS COMMUNITY
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Poole, a man named David Tissington has been sentenced to serve six years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing two young girls over a span of more than two years. The disturbing case, which came to light in 2001, highlights the grave concerns surrounding child protection and the devastating impact of such crimes on victims and their families.According to court records, Tissington, aged 52 at the time, faced multiple charges including six counts of indecent assault and four counts of gross indecency. These offenses occurred between April 1998 and May of the previous year. The severity of the allegations and the length of time over which the abuse took place underscored the seriousness of the case.
The victims, two young girls from Poole, confided in a relative in June about the abuse they had endured. Following this disclosure, authorities swiftly moved to arrest Tissington in September. Initially, he denied the allegations, refusing to provide any explanation for the accusations made by the children. However, as the case progressed, Tissington ultimately changed his plea to guilty, admitting to the charges against him.
During the proceedings at Bournemouth Crown Court, the emotional toll on the victims and their families was evident. A relative of one of the girls spoke publicly about the profound effects of Tissington’s actions. She described how the young girl’s personality had undergone a dramatic transformation, noting mood swings, tantrums, and a decline in academic performance. The relative expressed her anguish, stating, “When you find out something like this, it’s absolutely devastating.”
Despite the pain and trauma inflicted, the relative also expressed a sense of relief that justice had been served, acknowledging the six-year sentence handed down to Tissington as a necessary step in holding him accountable for his crimes. The case remains a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and protective measures for vulnerable children within the community of Poole.
