DAVID THACKERAY JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN WARRINGTON AND CHESTER
In a significant case that has shocked the Warrington community, David Thackeray, a man with no fixed address, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to multiple serious child sex offences. The proceedings took place at Chester Crown Court on November 10, where Thackeray, aged 53, pleaded guilty to a series of disturbing crimes involving a young girl.
Thackeray was found responsible for three counts of sexual assault against a female under the age of 13, with the incidents occurring between May 1 and June 7.
The court heard that these assaults were committed over a period of time, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior that has caused considerable distress to the victim and her family.
In addition to the sexual assault charges, Thackeray also admitted to possessing indecent images of children.
Specifically, he pleaded guilty to two counts of making such images, one count of possessing indecent photos of a child, and another count of possessing prohibited images of a child.
These offences further underscore the severity of his actions and the threat he posed to the safety of minors.
Judge Raj Shetty, presiding over the case, sentenced Thackeray to six years in prison.
The judge also ordered that Thackeray must sign the sexual offences register for life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offending.
Furthermore, Thackeray was required to pay a total of £1,020 in court costs and a victim surcharge, reflecting the court’s stance on the seriousness of his crimes.
As part of the sentencing, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed on Thackeray.
This order aims to restrict his activities and prevent him from engaging in further offences related to sexual misconduct.
The case has once again brought to light the ongoing issues surrounding child protection and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in safeguarding vulnerable members of society, particularly in the Warrington area where Thackeray’s crimes have had a profound impact.
