DAVID TAYLOR FROM BARRY CAUGHT BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS IN CARDIFF AFTER TARGETING TEEN GIRL

In March 2018, a disturbing case unfolded involving David Taylor, a 36-year-old man from Barry, who was apprehended after engaging in online predatory behavior directed at what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

The incident was brought to light when Taylor was caught by a vigilant paedophile hunting group, known as The Guardian Angels, during an online sting operation conducted in Cardiff.

According to court proceedings, Taylor initiated a conversation with a decoy profile created by the group, which was posing as a 14-year-old girl named Emily.

During their chat, Taylor made inappropriate inquiries, including asking Emily if she had ever seen a man’s genitals before.

The conversation took a darker turn when he referenced topics such as bestiality, indicating his intent to engage in illegal and harmful activities.

Prosecutors revealed that Taylor had a long history of sexual offenses involving minors.

He had previously served a three-year prison sentence in June 2005 after being convicted of indecent assault and gross indecency with a child.

Following his release, he repeatedly breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which was specifically designed to prevent him from having any contact with children.

By the end of 2007, he had violated this order five times, with additional breaches occurring in 2010.

In January 2013, Taylor was sentenced to four years in prison, with an extension of six years, after inciting sexual activity with a child and offering money to a woman online to allow him to abuse her children.

During the current investigation, the group’s decoy profile, which was set up on a chat application, was used to simulate a teenage girl seeking friendship.

Prosecutors stated that Taylor quickly made contact and engaged in conversations that soon turned inappropriate.

The group collected evidence of his misconduct, which they then presented to the police.

The confrontation was streamed live on Facebook, drawing public attention to the case.

Following his arrest, Taylor was taken into custody at Bridgend Police Station.

Further investigations revealed that he had boasted about his genitals to another decoy, this time pretending to be a 13-year-old girl named Sally-Lu.

He also attempted to engage with a decoy posing as a 12-year-old named Lily, asking if she wanted to see his private parts.

Additionally, he engaged in a conversation about bestiality with another decoy claiming to be a 13-year-old girl named Chelsea.

Officers who searched Taylor’s home on Winston Road in Barry found a mobile phone hidden within his bed sheets.

The device contained messages and evidence of his online activities.

It was revealed that Taylor did not have internet access at home due to his criminal history, and he reportedly went to the library to use the internet.

In court, Taylor admitted to four counts of attempting sexual communication with a child in breach of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke sentenced him to three years in prison.

The court also confirmed that the indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order remains in effect to prevent any future contact with minors.

Representatives of The Guardian Angels expressed their gratitude on their Facebook page, thanking all the decoys involved in the case for their efforts in protecting children from predators like Taylor.
