SYSTON PAEDOPHILE DAVID TASKER SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Syston, David James Tasker, a 66-year-old man, was sentenced to serve a minimum of six years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against a young girl. The court has made it clear that Tasker will not be eligible for release until authorities determine he no longer poses a threat to the public.Judge Simon Hammond delivered a stern judgment, emphasizing the gravity of Tasker’s crimes and his dangerous nature. The judge stated, "It’s likely he won’t ever be released. This is the third time he’s committed sex offences. He’s a wicked predatory sex offender." The judge further highlighted the ongoing risk posed by Tasker, noting that he remains a high danger to children of both genders.
Tasker’s criminal history is extensive and deeply troubling. His abuse of the young girl occurred over a period when she was between 11 and 16 years old. The charges he admitted to include two counts of rape—specifically, forcing her to perform sexual acts—along with sexual assault, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and two additional counts of sexual activity with a minor.
The arrest of Tasker came last summer, triggered by the victim’s discovery of his previous sexual offenses. This revelation prompted authorities to take action, leading to his current incarceration.
Historical records reveal that Tasker’s criminal behavior dates back several decades. In 1965, he was fined for two separate indecent assault offenses. Over a decade later, in 1976, he was convicted on three counts of sexual assault involving two girls aged between six and ten, as well as an incident of indecent assault on a seven-year-old boy. For these offenses, he received a relatively lenient sentence of 18 months in prison, suspended, with supervision.
Pre-sentence reports have painted a grim picture of Tasker’s propensity to re-offend. The reports also indicate that he blames the victims for his actions, showing a complete lack of remorse for his crimes. The court’s decision underscores the severity of his offenses and the ongoing threat he poses to children in the community of Syston and beyond.
