FARNHAM SEX OFFENDER DAVID STACEY SENTENCED AFTER MAKING PSEUDO-PHOTOGRAPH OF CHILD
In September 2018, a man from Farnham named David Michael Stacey faced legal consequences after being convicted of possessing and creating indecent images involving minors. Stacey, aged 36 and residing at Wey Meadow Close, was brought before Guildford Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to charges related to the creation of a pseudo-photograph of a child. The incident took place between November 16 and 21, 2017, during which Stacey produced an image that, according to Home Office definitions, was a computer-generated graphic designed to resemble a photograph.Under UK law, a pseudo-photograph is understood as an image created through digital means or other methods that give the appearance of a real photograph, often used in cases involving indecent material. The court found Stacey guilty of this offence and subsequently handed down a series of penalties aimed at both punishment and public protection.
As part of his sentence, Stacey was given a community order that mandates his participation in an accredited sexual offenders’ treatment program for a duration of 35 days. Additionally, he is required to undertake a rehabilitation activity for up to 20 days and complete 210 hours of unpaid work within the next year. These measures are intended to facilitate his reintegration and reduce the risk of reoffending.
Furthermore, Stacey was ordered to pay £85 in compensation to the victim and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service. He was also instructed to surrender his computer to authorities, a step aimed at preventing further misuse of digital devices for illegal activities.
In a move to restrict his online activity and prevent access to minors, Stacey was issued a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This order explicitly limits his internet usage and prohibits him from being in the company of any child under the age of 18, except in circumstances that are part of his normal daily routine and court-approved activities.
Finally, as mandated by the Sexual Offences Act 2003, Stacey is required to register with the police for a period of five years. This registration is a standard procedure for individuals convicted of sexual offences, ensuring ongoing monitoring and safeguarding measures are in place to protect the community from potential harm.
