DAVID AND SAMUEL ROGERS BRUTAL MURDER IN BIRMINGHAM: BROTHERS FROM MANSFIELD AND NEWCASTLE SENTENCED

Two brothers, David Rogers and Samuel Rogers, have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms after committing a violent and deadly attack on their younger sibling, Thomas Rogers. The incident unfolded in Birmingham, where the brothers traveled from their respective hometowns—David from Birmingham itself, Samuel from Mansfield, and Thomas from Newcastle—culminating in a tragic act of revenge that shocked the local community.

According to court proceedings at Birmingham Crown Court, the events leading up to the murder were rooted in a series of personal conflicts and threats. Thomas Rogers, who had previously fallen out with his brothers, had moved away from Birmingham to Newcastle with his mother. During this period, he reportedly made threats against David, including a direct statement that he intended to 'kill' him. These threats occurred in the weeks prior to the fatal incident, heightening tensions between the siblings.

In July of the previous year, Thomas relocated to Birmingham, where an incident involving Samuel Rogers took place. Samuel, who resided in Mansfield, had his windows smashed at his home, an act believed to be connected to the ongoing family disputes. The situation escalated further when David and Samuel tracked Thomas in an Astra vehicle. They located him in Birmingham and stopped their car directly in front of his vehicle, setting the stage for the violent confrontation.

On August 22, the brothers carried out their revenge plan. They approached Thomas and, in a brutal attack, stabbed him through an open car window. The attack was swift and deadly, leaving Thomas with critical injuries. Following the assault, David Rogers immediately contacted his mother, informing her that he had 'sorted it' and that Thomas would likely end up back in prison once he recovered from his injuries. This call revealed a chilling sense of satisfaction or justification for the violence.

Tragically, Thomas Rogers succumbed to his injuries, and the news of his death devastated David Rogers. During his sentencing, David was visibly distressed, crying and repeatedly slapping his leg, describing himself as being 'in bits.' His emotional breakdown underscored the gravity of his remorse and the impact of his actions.

David Rogers was convicted of murder and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 18 years before he could be considered for parole. Samuel Rogers, who was found guilty of manslaughter, was sentenced to nine years in prison. The court's verdict reflects the severity of the crime and the tragic consequences of familial disputes turned deadly in Birmingham, with the offenders originating from Mansfield and Newcastle.
