DAVID REYNOLDS FROM BIRKENHEAD AND ELLESMERE PORT CAUGHT FAILING TO REPORT MOVE TO POLICE
In a serious case of non-compliance with legal obligations, David Reynolds, a convicted sex offender with ties to Birkenhead and Ellesmere Port, has been brought before the courts once again for failing to notify authorities of his change of address.This breach of the sex offenders register requirements has led to a significant legal penalty, highlighting ongoing concerns about the monitoring of registered offenders.
Reynolds, aged 71 and residing on Straker Avenue in Ellesmere Port, had previously admitted to the offence at the magistrates court, acknowledging that he had not informed police of his recent move.
His failure to update his address details is a violation of the conditions set by a 2001 order from Chester Crown Court, which mandated that he keep law enforcement informed of his whereabouts at all times.
This order was part of his ongoing registration as a sex offender, a status he has maintained since the initial court ruling.
The incident came to light when police officers visited Reynolds' Ellesmere Port residence on February 13, suspecting he had been living there for some time.
Their inquiries revealed that Reynolds had not been at his previous address in Birkenhead since March 2020.
Initially, Reynolds' partner claimed he had been residing in Ellesmere Port since January 2021, but subsequent statements clarified that he had been there since March 2020, with occasional returns to his old Birkenhead address following disagreements or fall-outs.
