LOWESTOFT THEME PARK GUARD DAVID REEVE SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF TEENAGE GIRL NEAR LOWESTOFT
In a case that has shocked the local community near Lowestoft, Suffolk, a former security guard employed at a popular theme park has been convicted of the serious crime of raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in 2002, but the victim waited a year before coming forward, after Reeve, aged 26 at the time, allegedly warned her not to disclose what had happened. The court proceedings revealed that David Reeve, who resided on Princes Road in Lowestoft, had initially denied the allegations. He claimed that his interactions with the girl were limited to giving her a 'love bite' on her neck, asserting that no further misconduct occurred. However, the evidence presented in court painted a different picture.
According to prosecutors, after a social outing involving drinks, Reeve stopped his vehicle in a service road and committed the assault. The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was unable to speak out immediately, fearing repercussions or out of intimidation, but eventually reported the crime after a year had passed.
The court heard that Reeve had a criminal history, including previous convictions for violence and drink driving, which added weight to the case against him. The jury, composed of seven women and five men, deliberated for five hours before reaching a guilty verdict.
Judge Peter Jacobs sentenced David Reeve to five and a half years in prison for his actions. Additionally, Reeve was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent any future offenses. He was also explicitly banned from working with children, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the court’s concern for public safety.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need for victims to come forward, even if delayed, to ensure justice is served and community safety is maintained.
