DAVID PRITCHARD SENTENCED IN HULL FOR HORRIFIC SEX OFFENCES ON BOYS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the city of Hull, a man named David Pritchard has been sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offences committed against three vulnerable teenage boys.

The court heard that Pritchard, aged 61 and currently held at HMP Hull, was convicted of multiple counts related to his predatory behavior, which spanned over several decades.

He received a prison sentence of 12 years, accompanied by an extended license period of six years, reflecting the severity of his crimes.

The judge described Pritchard’s conduct as that of a “monster,” emphasizing the depravity of his actions.

A Detective Constable involved in the case labeled him an “extremely dangerous predatory paedophile,” expressing concern that authorities have only uncovered a fraction of the full extent of his offending.

Officers are actively encouraging anyone who may have been victimized by Pritchard’s “foul and perverted behaviour” to come forward and seek help.

The court proceedings revealed that Pritchard had pleaded guilty to 25 counts across three separate indictments, all involving boys under the age of 16.

The abuse first began in Derby in 1990, targeting a young boy who had run away from home and was particularly vulnerable.

During this period, Pritchard exploited the boy’s trust, providing him with alcohol and cannabis, and continued to abuse him until he was 18.

The victim was kept silent through threats, including a terrifying warning that Pritchard would kill his mother if he ever disclosed the abuse.

This young man only felt able to confide in a probation officer after being arrested for minor crimes in 2018.

Prosecutor Miss Charlotte Baines detailed the horrific nature of the abuse, stating that Pritchard subjected the boy to sexual acts and coerced him into engaging in various sexual activities, including oral and penetrative sex.

In addition to the Derby victim, two other boys were also sexually abused by Pritchard while he was residing in Hull and Bridlington.

Specifically, his addresses included Wellstead Street, off Hessle Road in Hull, and Pinfold Street in Bridlington.

These incidents occurred between 2014 and 2018, with the victims being under 16 at the time.

Victims’ impact statements read aloud in court painted a grim picture of the lasting trauma inflicted by Pritchard.

One victim revealed that he had attempted to take his own life, while another described suffering from insomnia, loss of appetite, and frequent flashbacks.

Both victims expressed that the abuse had severely affected their mental health and daily lives.

Miss Baines outlined the nature of the abuse, which involved sexual touching, oral sex, and penetration.

She highlighted that the abuse continued up until just a few weeks before one of the victims finally spoke out.

One victim stated that he found it difficult to live and had even attempted suicide, feeling that life would be better if he were no longer alive.

He also described difficulty trusting others and feeling isolated.

The other victim reported weight loss, sleep disturbances, and persistent thoughts about the abuse, which often prevented him from sleeping at all.

It was also revealed that Pritchard had prior convictions, including a five-year sentence in 1989 for buggery.

During police interviews, he admitted to having a “sexual interest in pre-pubescent males” and expressed a sense of relief that his crimes had been uncovered, stating he was “glad it had all come out so they could get it sorted.” Judge Gurdial Singh, presiding over the case, sentenced Pritchard and described his conduct as that of a “monster.” The judge noted that the absence of physical violence in the abuse, replaced instead by coercion and grooming, had narrowly prevented Pritchard from receiving a life sentence.

The case has left a lasting scar on the community, and authorities continue to urge victims to come forward to ensure justice is fully served.
