WISHAW SEX OFFENDER DAVID NEVANS SENTENCED FOR ABUSING TWO YOUNG BOYS IN WISHAW

In a recent court ruling at Hamilton Sheriff Court, David Nevans, a resident of Wishaw, was sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing two young boys.

The court also mandated that Nevans, aged 60, will be placed under supervision for a period of two years following his release from incarceration.

Additionally, Sheriff Marie Smart ordered that Nevans be registered on the sex offenders register indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his crimes.

According to court records, Nevans was convicted of engaging in lewd, indecent, and libidinous conduct towards the two boys at various addresses within Wishaw during the late 1970s.

The first victim was subjected to abuse over an extended period, beginning when he was just five years old.

The second victim, meanwhile, was between three and five years old at the time of the offenses.

Despite the evidence presented, Nevans maintained his innocence, denying both charges throughout the trial.

However, the jury found him guilty after careful deliberation, leading to his subsequent sentencing.

The case highlights the disturbing nature of the crimes committed decades ago, and the court's decision reflects the ongoing efforts to hold offenders accountable regardless of the passage of time.
