SCOTTISH SECURITY WORKER CONVICTED OF VOYEURISM AFTER UPSKIRT INCIDENT
A security worker named George Scott, aged 49, from Wishaw, has been convicted of voyeurism after using his iPhone to upskirt a 14-year-old schoolgirl while they queued at a Subway in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.
Scott was observed to be 'unnaturally close' to the girl before another pupil saw him insert his phone under her skirt.
Police were called in November 2023, and Scott was arrested.
Officers found a photo of the girl’s face on his phone, along with 21 deleted images.
Scott claimed the camera app had opened on its own and denied any deliberate wrongdoing, asserting there was no intent of voyeurism.
The sheriff at Hamilton Sheriff Court found him guilty of voyeurism, stating: "The Crown evidence is overwhelmingly compelling and I find you guilty of the charge." Sentencing was deferred for reports, and Scott was placed on the sex offenders' register and banned from contacting the victim for five years via a non-harassment order.
