DAVID MORECOCK'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN BIRMINGHAM, REDDITCH, AND BROMSGROVE LEAD TO PRISON SENTENCE

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities, David Anthony Morecock, aged 26, of Ley Hill Farm Road in Northfield, Birmingham, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his involvement in a serious sexual offence involving a minor. The conviction was handed down at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday, June 16, following a guilty plea to charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Morecock's criminal history is extensive, with records dating back to the year 2000, and he was already registered as a sex offender prior to this latest conviction. His previous addresses include locations in Redditch and Bromsgrove, areas where he had previously attempted or succeeded in forming inappropriate relationships with young girls. The recent case specifically pertains to an incident involving a 15-year-old girl from Redditch, with whom he established a relationship through a social networking site in 2009.

According to court reports, during their initial meeting, Morecock exerted coercive pressure on the young girl to perform sexual acts. The situation came to light when the victim’s mother grew suspicious of her daughter’s behavior and took the unusual step of answering her mobile phone, pretending to be her daughter. It was through this intervention that authorities were alerted to the situation, leading to Morecock’s arrest.

Judge Toby Hooper, presiding over the case, also issued a lifelong Sexual Offences Prevention Order against Morecock. This order prohibits him from having any unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 16 and restricts his internet access unless monitored by specialized software that allows police to oversee his online activity. Additionally, Morecock will remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

DC Adrian Smith of Bromsgrove CID described Morecock as a dangerous sexual predator who has repeatedly targeted young girls over the years. He emphasized that Morecock’s history of sexual offences, combined with his recent actions, underscores the ongoing threat he poses to the community. Smith stated, “Morecock has a long list of previous convictions, including sexual offences. Over the years, he has formed or attempted to form a number of sexual relationships with young girls and is clearly a danger to them. In this latest case, he was clearly much older than his victim, and undoubtedly put pressure on her to commit sexual acts.”
