SCOTTISH PENSIONER TO FACE TRIAL FOR HISTORIC CHILD ABUSE IN EDINBURGH
A pensioner is to stand trial charged with historical crimes against four boys at a private school.David McLeish, who is now 67 years old, faces accusations that span between 1981 and 1984.The offences reportedly occurred at a secondary school in Edinburgh.
He is accused of indecently assaulting a pupil on multiple occasions, which allegedly included inviting the boy into staff accommodation, offering alcohol, and making sexual remarks.
He is also said to have inappropriately touched the boy.
McLeish is further charged with three breach of peace offences connected to other pupils.He is said to have allowed a boy to smoke and drink alcohol in staff premises and to have shown him pornographic magazines.
It is also claimed he invited another boy into a bedroom while he was partially clothed.
The court proceedings took place at the High Court in Glasgow, where McLeish's lawyer, Richard Goddard, pleaded not guilty on his behalf.
The defense expressed readiness for trial, with an anticipated duration of around five days.
The trial date is scheduled for June 2026 in Edinburgh, with a further hearing set for October of this year.
