April 2012 Man admits ‘horrendous’ sexual abuse of two young sisters A man has been jailed for the “horrendous” sexual abuse of two young sisters. David McCallum raped two schoolgirls on numerous occasions when they were aged between nine and 12 years old. The 57-year-old was jailed for eight years and four months at the High Court in Aberdeen on Thursday after he admitted a string of sexual offences in the mid to late 1980s. McCallum, of Marmion Place, Cumbernauld, raped the girls at an address in Clydebank, at a Highland caravan park and in Stirling. The judge, Lord Bannatyne, said that McCallum admitted to social workers that he had “destroyed the lives” of his two victims. He said: “The impact of your offending on them has been horrendous.” He jailed McCallum and put him on the sex offenders register indefinitely. The court heard that McCallum acts as the long-term carer for his wife, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis and arthritis, and who appeared in court to support her husband.
