DAVID LIVESLEY CAUGHT WITH 20,000 CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES IN CLAYTON-LE-MOORS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Clayton-le-Moors, a man named David Livesey, aged 48, has been found in possession of an alarming collection of over 20,000 indecent images depicting children engaged in sexual activities. The revelations emerged during a court hearing at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court, where Livesey pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges related to the possession of these illicit materials.

According to court records, police officers had traced the source of illegal images to Livesey’s residence on Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors. The investigation was initiated after authorities intercepted digital files containing child exploitation material, which led them directly to his computer equipment. When law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at his home in November of the previous year, they confiscated several electronic devices. Upon examination, these devices were found to contain thousands of indecent images of children, including some classified as the most severe category of abuse.

Prosecutor Catherine Allan detailed the extent of the material found, stating that among the evidence reviewed by officers was a video clip lasting three minutes and 45 seconds, which was part of the disturbing content stored on Livesey’s devices. During the court proceedings, Livesey, who had no prior criminal record, chose to speak only to confirm his personal details—his name, age, and date of birth—and to enter his guilty pleas.

He admitted to five separate offences, notably that between July 2007 and November 2018, he possessed a total of 564 Category A images, which depict the most serious forms of sexual abuse involving children. In addition, he confessed to possessing 468 Category B images and a staggering 19,081 Category C images, which are considered less severe but still highly illegal. Furthermore, Livesey acknowledged possessing six prohibited images and one extreme pornography image, all of which are criminal offenses under current legislation.

The magistrates’ bench decided not to handle the sentencing themselves, instead referring the case to Burnley Crown Court, where a hearing is scheduled for December 2. Until then, Livesey was granted unconditional bail and ordered to undergo probation assessments. He was also instructed to register as a sex offender within three days at Burnley police station, after which he will be subject to monitoring and supervision as part of his sentence.
