DAVE LANGTON'S DOMESTIC ABUSE RAMPAGE IN PERTH LEADS TO 10-MONTH JAIL SENTENCE

David Langton, a man with a military background and a history of violent behavior, has been sentenced to serve ten months behind bars following a series of serious domestic abuse incidents in Perth. The events unfolded during a night when Langton, reportedly intoxicated, engaged in a violent altercation at his residence.

According to court records, Langton's drunken outburst resulted in him physically pushing two individuals out of his home, including his wife, Rosemary Langton. Despite a court-issued order that explicitly prohibited him from making any contact with her, Langton later sent her messages, claiming that he wanted a divorce. Rosemary, believing that her husband was still under the influence of alcohol, chose to ignore these messages, fearing further escalation.

The situation worsened when Langton demanded that Rosemary leave the house, which led to him assaulting another man present at the scene, identified as Daniel Devlin. The assault was severe enough that both victims, fearing for their safety, fled the property and sought refuge at a neighbor’s house. They promptly contacted police to report the incident.

Further complicating the case, Langton was found to have violated his bail conditions by attempting to contact his wife again on November 16. His solicitor, Billy Somerville, suggested that Langton’s aggressive behavior might have been influenced by combat stress, a condition linked to his military service.

During the sentencing hearing, Sheriff Gillian Wade described Langton’s criminal record as 'appalling' and emphasized the seriousness of his actions. Ultimately, she sentenced him to ten months in prison, citing assault and threatening behavior as the primary reasons for the punishment. The case highlights the ongoing issues of domestic violence and the challenges faced by individuals suffering from mental health issues related to military service.
