BARNSEY MAN DAVID HIRST CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Barnsley, David Hirst, a 61-year-old engineer, was found to be in possession of a large collection of child abuse images on his personal computer and external hard drives.The police executed a search warrant at Hirst's residence on Queens Drive in Barnsley in January 2019, while he was away from home.
During the raid, officers uncovered over 1,000 illicit images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of minors, some as young as one to three years old, with the majority of the victims being between 13 and 15 years old.
Details presented in Sheffield Crown Court revealed that the investigation uncovered not only the images but also internet search queries related to “Siberian models” and 15-year-old girls, indicating a disturbing pattern of interest.
Hirst, who has been described as a hoarder, admitted to viewing some of the child sexual abuse material when he contacted police, describing the content as “horrific.” Hirst, a resident of Queens Drive in Barnsley, pleaded guilty to seven counts of possessing indecent images.
His sentencing included a four-month prison term, which was suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offense within that period.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next seven years and complete 45 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing his offending behavior.
His actions have not only led to legal consequences but have also profoundly impacted the community, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of children in the area.
