MAN JAILED FOR MURDERING NEIGHBOUR, 77, IN VIOLENT ATTACK
David Hill returned to court for sentencing on Thursday, December 18, and was jailed for life with a minimum term of 17 years.
He was found guilty of murder following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.
Hill, aged 57, of South Cross Road, Huddersfield, attacked his neighbour, Kurt Giwisser, a 77-year-old man, in a violent assault.
On February 21, 2023, Hill banged on Giwisser's door, punched him in the face as he came to the door, then forced his way inside and further attacked him while he was on the floor before leaving.
Giwisser was able to call 999, was hospitalized for his injuries, but his health deteriorated over the next few weeks, leading to his death in April 2023.
Medical experts established a causational link between Hill’s assault and Giwisser’s death.
Hill was arrested shortly after the incident, then released on bail while police continued their enquiries.
